Magic Lantern firmware for the Canon T2i / 550D and 60D

If you're shooting video with your Canon 550D or 60D you should definitely check out the Magic Lantern firmware. It will give you much more possibilities to adjust the settings on your camera.

I installed it today and it really blew me away! It is great!

What i liked most:
- turning off the AGC
- on screen audio meters
- live view zebras !
- on screen cropmarks
- built in intervalometer for shooting timelapses !
- custom (native) ISO steps !!!
- custom shutter speeds !!!
- kelvin white balance !!!
- DOF "meters"
- higher bitrates !!!

These are all the features that I missed on this camera (but there are many more). So if you're interested in "tuning" your 550D or 60D check http://magiclantern.wikia.com - and please consider a donation if you like it.

Here's a nice video by Matt Dennie that demonstrates what the new firmware looks like:

My rating 5/5.

Cheers,

  2. Hi Hubert,

I've tested it the whole night yesterday and couldn't find any big problems. I'm happy with it, but please check the official site for more information.

  3. Yes, for sure, the official site is the best place for information about bugs or problems, but your personnal feedback could be a good advice for us ... maybe you could make another review after Weeks of use ?

    Best regards

  4. Hi Hubert,

I'll let you know on my site if problems occur. But so far so good, everything works great. (Just don't mess around in debug mode). :)

  5. OK, the first really annoying big bug that I noticed: when I'm in playback mode and scroll through the pictures the camera tends to hang itself so I have to take out the battery. That's a thing that I really dislike.
